First Edition. True first edition of this scarce title, dated 1894 on the title page, but actually issued in 1893, as there is an ownership inscription in pencil from Christmas 1893. Original diagonally ribbed teal cloth lettered and decorated in plum and gilt; grey coated endpapers; 2 unattributed illustrations as frontis. and facing p282. 284pp text + 4pp ads for other works by Coolidge.
Patchy fading to top of rear cover; hinges strained but holding. Other than these flaws quite sound and very clean internally. No copies of any edition of this work available online at time of listing.
