Madame Izan
Mrs Campbell [Rosa Praed] Praed
Appleton, New York · 1899
First Edition. Very scarce first edition of this novel by Mrs Campbell Praed. several of her novels were issued in America by Appleton in their Town and Country Library. Of these Mrs Tregaskiss is quite common, Nulma scarce and Madame Izan almost unheard of.
The book was published in UK by Chatto and Windus in 1898 - another unfindable. The present copy is in the publisher's grey full linen with lettering and decoration in red, black and gilt. Integral catalogue at rear up to No. 263 whilst this is 264 in the T&C Library (first and - I suspect - only issue).
Minor, unobtrusive soiling to covers and a previous owner thought it fit to fill in the publisher's very small colophon on the title page in pen (!). Other than these flaws a bright, clean and possibly even unread copy..
Written by Dr Jeremy Parrott, who has the book in his hands. Nothing here is generated from a catalogue record.
