The cookie we always use

kp_cart	Remembers what is in your basket. Strictly necessary, so it needs no consent. It holds a random basket identifier and nothing else, and expires after 30 days. It is set only when you add a book to the basket.

Measurement and advertising

We use the Google Ads tag to see which of our adverts lead to a purchase (Advertising), and, if we switch it on, Google Analytics to count visits (Analytics). A notice asks first, with Accept and Reject buttons of equal weight. Until you accept, nothing from Google loads at all and no Google cookie is set. Your choice is kept in a first-party cookie, kp_consent, for 180 days. If you accept, Google sets its own cookies (named _gcl_au, _ga and similar), kept for between three months and two years.

If you reject, or never answer, the basket cookie above is the only cookie on this site.

Visit statistics without cookies

We count visits with Plausible, which we run on our own server in the EU. It sets no cookies and stores no personal data, so it needs no consent.
