About

Kakapo Press is one man, one library, and forty years of reading.

Dr Jeremy Parrott is an independent Charles Dickens scholar, a Senior Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Buckingham, and an associate editor of the Dickens Online Letters Project. In 2015 he identified the only known annotated set of All the Year Round, Dickens's weekly magazine, which named more than three hundred contributors who had until then published in it anonymously.

He is the bibliographer of the lifetime United Kingdom editions of Dickens, the author of a genetic study of David Copperfield, and a scholar of naming in the work of Samuel Beckett. He lives in Szeged, in southern Hungary, with the library.

The books offered here come from that library. Every description is written by him, with the book in his hands: the binding first, then the edition and its points, then the condition, with the defects named rather than glossed. If a copy is imperfect, the description says so.

His own books

  • The Collected Dickens: a bibliography of the lifetime UK editions
  • David Copperfield Unbound: a genetic study (Routledge)
  • Studies in naming in the work of Samuel Beckett
