What we hold, and why
| Enquiries | Your name, email and message, so that we can answer you. Legitimate interest. Kept 2 years; messages our filter marks as unsolicited advertising, 90 days. |

There are no customer accounts: you buy as a guest, and we hold only what an order or an enquiry needs.
Who else processes it
Only the services needed to run a shop:
- Cloudflare: hosting and the shop's database.
- Revolut: payments. You pay on Revolut's own checkout page.
- FedEx: delivery, which necessarily receives your name, address and phone number.
- Google (Gmail): messages you send through the enquiry forms are forwarded to the bookseller's Gmail inbox, where he reads and answers them.
- szamlazz.hu: invoicing.
- Our email provider, which delivers order confirmations and dispatch notices.
- Plausible: visit statistics, self-hosted on our own server in the EU. It sets no cookies and stores no personal data.
- Google Ads: measures which of our adverts lead to a purchase, only after you accept Advertising in the cookie notice (see cookies).
- Google Analytics: only if we switch it on, and then only after you accept it.
Some of these operate outside the European Economic Area; transfers rely on the European Commission's adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone whose service is not needed to get your book to you.
Card details
Card details never reach us. Payment happens on Revolut's hosted checkout, and we receive only the confirmation that it succeeded.
Cookies and tracking
The site sets one functional cookie for your basket. Advertising and analytics cookies are used only if you accept them. See cookies.
Advertising measurement
We advertise on Google, and use the Google Ads tag to learn which adverts lead to a sale. It runs only if you accept Advertising in the cookie notice; until then nothing from Google loads. If you have accepted and then buy a book, the order page tells Google the order number, its total and its currency, so the sale can be matched to the advert you clicked. We do not give Google your name, email or address. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time on the cookies page; Google handles this data under its own privacy policy.
Your rights
You may ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to our use of it, or ask for it in a portable form. Write to privacy@kakapopress.com and we answer within one month. One limit is worth stating plainly: we cannot delete an invoice before its retention period ends, because keeping it is a legal obligation.
If you believe we have handled your data wrongly you may complain to the Hungarian supervisory authority, the Nemzeti Adatvédelmi és Információszabadság Hatóság (NAIH), Budapest.
