What we hold, and why
| Enquiries | Your name, email and message, so that we can answer you. Legitimate interest. Kept 2 years. |
|---|---|
| Orders | Your name, email, delivery and billing address, so that we can perform the contract and ship the book. Kept 8 years, because tax law requires it. |
| Invoices | The invoice and its data, because Hungarian law obliges us to issue and retain them. Kept 8 years. |
| Account sign-in | Your email and a sign-in token, if you choose to create an account. We store no password, because we never ask for one. Tokens expire in minutes, sessions in 30 days. |
Who else processes it
Only the services needed to run a shop, each under a data processing agreement: Cloudflare (hosting and database), Revolut (payments), Postmark (order and account email), szamlazz.hu (invoicing), FedEx (delivery, which necessarily receives your address). Some of these operate outside the European Economic Area; transfers rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone whose service is not needed to get your book to you.
Card details
Card details never reach us. Payment happens on Revolut's hosted checkout, and we receive only the confirmation that it succeeded.
Cookies and tracking
This site currently sets no cookies and loads no third-party scripts. See cookies for what happens if that ever changes: nothing that requires consent will run before you give it.
Your rights
You may ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to our use of it, or ask for it in a portable form. Write to privacy@kakapopress.com and we answer within one month. One limit is worth stating plainly: we cannot delete an invoice before its retention period ends, because keeping it is a legal obligation.
If you believe we have handled your data wrongly you may complain to the Hungarian supervisory authority, the Nemzeti Adatvédelmi és Információszabadság Hatóság (NAIH), Budapest.
