The Star Sapphire

Mabel Collins
Roberts Brothers, Boston · 1896

First Edition. Extremely rare novel by one of the early theosophists, friend of Annie Besant and Madame Blavatsky. Mabel Collins wrote on theosophical matters but was also a prolific novelist.

Her non-fiction works are fairly easy to find, but her novels have become almost impossible to track down. The present title is a case in point. Almost unbelievably, this is a completely fine copy that can barely even have been exposed to daylight in 110 years.

Publisher's unglazed red buckram with illustration of mistletoe and lettering in black to front cover and spine. No inscriptions, no wear, no marks. Uncanny! No other copies of any edition online at time of listing and almost without question the best copy still in existence.

Written by Dr Jeremy Parrott, who has the book in his hands. Nothing here is generated from a catalogue record.
