First Edition. True first edition of this scarce early boys' adventure novel by Mayne Reid. Publisher's decorative blue cloth, with blind-stamping front and rear, gilt lettering and illustration to spine. 353pp text with12 illustrations + 8pp catalogue at rear dated December 1857.
Precedes the British edition by several months. General wear to cloth and some staining to plates but quite sound. Harvey (illustrator).
