The Interrogation

Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clezio
Hamish Hamilton, London · 1964

First Edition. The rare first book by Le Clezio, the 2008 Nobel laureate for literature. Published in French in 1963, this novel won the Prix Renaudot and was just pipped for the Goncourt.

Instantly acclaimed as a masterpiece and finally accorded the ultimate accolade. The English translation by Daphne Woodward was made in collaboration with the author. The English edition barely caused a ripple and copies in decent condition are extremely scarce.

This copy has light page edge foxing and the dw is price-clipped. No other marks or inscriptions and the intact dw comes in a protective mylar sleeve.

Written by Dr Jeremy Parrott, who has the book in his hands. Nothing here is generated from a catalogue record.
