First Edition. Scarce first English edition of Zola's 'La Conquete de Plassans' [Sadleir 3386] . Publisher's diagonally ribbed sage-green cloth, lettered in gilt and illustrated in burgundy and gilt.
Top edge uncut, floral endpapers. Spine lettering oxidized as usual but still legible in blind. Catalogue at rear for Sept. 1886 [1st issue]. 6 of 8 plates present with the remaining 2 in high quality facsimile.
Minor repair to tear in spine else clean and sound throughout.
