Szep Mikhal

Jokai Maurus [Jokai Mor]
Athenaeum, Budapest · 1877

First Edition. Very scarce first edition in original Hungarian of this classic novel by the undisputed master of 19th-century prose in Hungary. Published in three volumes, here bound in one with all three title pages included.

Contemporary scarlet cloth with elaborate decoration in gilt and blind andgilt spine lettering; floral end-papers and light marbling to edges. Slightly grubby and with small signs of wear to cloth but a sound copy of a very rare book.

Written by Dr Jeremy Parrott, who has the book in his hands. Nothing here is generated from a catalogue record.
