First Edition Thus. Rare second edition of Kertesz's most important novel and, in effect, the book for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 2002. The first edition was issued in 1975 and only gradually attracted any critical attention.
This second edition, in paperback and with a colour cover, includes a loosely inserted publicity leaflet with an introduction to the book and reviews by notable critics. True first editions by this author are extremely rare, having been issued in tiny print runs and largely ignored at the time. Sorstalansag went through just 5 printings in the 25 years following its first publication.
Compare this with 8 editions of the same book in 2003 alone. Any edition of this work published prior to the award is now hard to find, and this is a near fine copy of a cheaply produced and fragile book.
