First Edition. Scarce first edition of this little-known criminous collection of short stories, first published in the Windsor Magazine in 1903, but only appearing in book-form 25 years later. The book is not dated but was issued in 1928.
This copy has an ownership inscription dated 22 Oct. 1928on front free endpaper. 307pp text + 8pp undated catalogue announcing the present title. Original blue cloth lettered in black. Faint water-marking to cloth, minor bump to one corner and page-edge foxing else a clean, sound copy of a very difficult title.
