First Edition Thus. Very early edition of the second Scarlet Pimpernel novel in the original cloth and in superb condition. The first sequel, after the runaway success of the original title in 1905.
This novel went through six printings in 1906 and two more in 1907. This is a copy of the 8th andfinal edition in the original format, identical to the very rare first printing. It was subsequently issued in the red cloth cheap format.
Publisher's blue cloth with gilt lettering and vignette of red cap to front cover. Folding facsimile of letter as frontispiece. The book is absolutely pristine apart from trivial page edge foxing.
The covers and illustration are so bright that it looks new. Most uncommon in such a wonderful state of preservation.
Written by Dr Jeremy Parrott, who has the book in his hands. Nothing here is generated from a catalogue record.
