First Edition. Extremely scarce first edition of Part 2 of Marai's great trilogy - Sertodottek - his last work to be published in Hungary for more than 40 years. The third volume (Muveszet es Szerelem) was printed, but banned and destroyed before publication.
Some copies are believed to have survivedbut there are none in any of the major collections in Hungary or around the world and even Marai himself did not possess a copy. Nearly sixty years later it has still not been published. This copy of Vol. 2 is in publisher's half-cloth binding - oatmeal spine and pale orange paper-covered boards lettered in red.
Rubbing to edges of boards but clean and sound.
