First Edition. Extremely scarce true first edition of this Australian novel by Mrs Campbell Praed. Her first full-length novel to be originally issued in one-volume format after the demise of the three-decker.
Publisher's original dark blue, vertically-ribbed cloth with decorative blind-stampingand lettering in gilt. Title page in red and black, top edges gilt. 32pp publisher's catalogue at rear dated Feb. 1897 (first issue) [Tiffin 100]. Minor soiling or water-spotting to covers and occasional finger marks in margins but still a VG copy of a book that is rarely encountered in any condition.
