First Edition. True first edition of this rare novel by the celebrated Canadaian authoress, preceding the US edition. Publishers' blue cloth lettered and decorated in gilt, 300pp + 56pp catalogue dated April 1896. 15 tipped in plates by M'Cormick.
Top edges uncut, slate grey end-papers. Publisher's presentation copy with blind-stamp to that effect on title page. No previous ownership marks.
Slight fading to spine cloth and minimal rubbing at head and tail but an excellent copy overall - perhaps the best copy still in existence. A.D. M'Cormick (illustrator).
Written by Dr Jeremy Parrott, who has the book in his hands. Nothing here is generated from a catalogue record.
