Mr Witt's Widow

Anthony Hope
A.D. Innes, London · 1896

First Edition Thus. Early edition of this scarce novel by Anthony Hope. Like all his early books, this novel would have sunk without trace had it not been for the success of The Prisoner of Zenda in 1894.

This 1892 novel (sub-titled A Frivolous Tale) was dusted off by Innes and given a new lease of life. The present copy is from the Fourth and final edition issued by Innes in 1896. Publisher's scarlet cloth lettered in gilt to spine and with black lettering and illustration to front cover.

Minor signs of age and handling but a good, sound copy of a very elusive title, the first edition being totally unobtainable.

Written by Dr Jeremy Parrott, who has the book in his hands. Nothing here is generated from a catalogue record.
