W.H.G Kingston
Griffith & Farran, London · 1877
First Edition Thus. Scarce early edition of this juvenile work by Kingston. First published in 1858, this is a copy of the second edition - Third Thousand stated on title page.
Undated, but with publisher's catalogue at rear dated september 1877 announcing this book as a new edition. 320pp text with 8 tipped in plates by Landells (all present). Publisher's decorative cloth - green, with lettering and illustration in gilt and black. Minimal shelf wear and inner hinges neatly reglued.
Clean, sound and quite bright. All editions of Kingston's books published in his lifetime (d.1880) are now quite uncommon due to small printings and natural attrition. if you have any other Kingston wants please contact me as I have many books by this author, about whom I am preparing a major bibliographical study. R.T.
Landells (illustrator).
Written by Dr Jeremy Parrott, who has the book in his hands. Nothing here is generated from a catalogue record.
