Akiert a Harang Szol [For Whom the BellTolls]

Ernest Hemingway
Revai, Budapest · 1945

First Edition. Very scarce first edition in Hungarian of this famous novel. Published in 2 volumes in Autumn 1945, this book appeared in the brief interval between the end of the Second World War and the dropping of the Iron Curtain.

It was the first book by Hemingway to appear in Hungarian, andit was nearly 10 years until any further titles were sanctioned.Translation by Soter Istvan. Publisher's half cloth bindings - cream coarse linen spines lettered in black, black, paper-covered boards with tiny gilt motifs on them. Slight bumping and rubbing to edges, but a beautifully clean, bright set of a book that, when found at all, is usually a wreck.

Rare.

Written by Dr Jeremy Parrott, who has the book in his hands. Nothing here is generated from a catalogue record.
