Witching Hill
E.W. Hornung
Hodder & Stoughton, London · 1913
First Edition. Very scarce true first of this exciting Hornung novel. Undated, as required, but issued in 1913.
Reprints announce themselves [Hodder's practice at this time] whilst firsts keep stumm about their collectability. Original dark blue cloth with Gothic house and moon illustration to front cover in black and gilt. 7 of 8 plates by Yohn present; the 8th is inserted in quality facsimile. Neat repair to worn areas at head and tail of spine using matching cloth.
Rear inner hinge split and reglued. Minor foxing passim and slight patchy loss over sizing to spine. All faults noted and thus a good only copy, which is nonetheless quite sound and very clean apart from the foxing.
F.C. Yohn (illustrator).
Written by Dr Jeremy Parrott, who has the book in his hands. Nothing here is generated from a catalogue record.
