First Edition. Scarce first edition of this important realist novel set in London's East End. Publisher's vertically ribbed green cloth lettered and ruled in gilt. 312pp + 40pp catalogue dated September 1899.
First edition and first issue [Parrott A9]. Faint trace of label removal at foot of front cover, but no library marks or previous owner inscriptions. Minor surface rubbing to extremities but a clean and sound copy of this uncommon novel by the author of The Child of the Jago.
