The Western World
W.H.G. [William Henry Giles] Kingston
Nelson, London · 1874
First Edition. Nice copy of this massive work on the natural history of the Americas, the first edition and sole edition in the original format. Publisher's green cloth lettered and decorated in gilt and black. 736pp including very many illustrations.
Bevelled edges, sepia end-papers. The most impressive non-fiction work by the prolific author of boys' adventure stories - Kingston wrote over 160 books during his 40-year career. Minor shelf wear to extremities, but a very good, clean and sound copy.
Written by Dr Jeremy Parrott, who has the book in his hands. Nothing here is generated from a catalogue record.
