First Edition. True first edition of this posthumously published novel (Kingston died in 1880) and not - as the truly wretched entry on Kingston in CBEL would have us believe - a retitling of Peter the Whaler. The first edition comprised 2,000 copies.
Publisher's decorative cloth with uncredited illustrations, all edges gilt.Neat repairs to minor wear at spine, using matching cloth. A bit grubby and with rubbing to the edges of boards. Good and sound.
