The Island or an Adventure of a Person of Quality
Richard Whiteing
Longmans, London · 1888
First Edition. Whiteing's second novel after the pseudonymous 'Democracy' (1876), the prequel to his most famous work, 'No. 5 John Street' (1899). This South Sea idyll deserves to be better known as it is a fine work in its own right.
Publisher's turquoise cloth lettered in gilt to spine, sepia endpapers, top edges uncut. Catalogue at rear for August 1887 as required. Minor rubbing to extremities but clean and perfectly sound.
Very scarce indeed.
Written by Dr Jeremy Parrott, who has the book in his hands. Nothing here is generated from a catalogue record.
