First Edition. Extremely rare lesbian erotica from Paris in the 1920s. This novel has recently been reisued, but the original edition is of the utmost scarcity.
Original thin card covers with illustration of a lesbian seduction scene in blue, black, orange and white. Frontis on art paper and numerousfull page illustrations by Jack Hett and another unnamed illustrator. Coversworn with small chips to head and tail of spine and lower corners.
Insect or rodent nibbles to some lower page edges not affecting text. Despite these flaws a basically sound and very clean copy of a book that would only have been distributed clandestinely and probably thrown away once read in most cases, to hide the evidence! An extraordinary insight into how lesbianism was viewed 80 years ago, with - even in an erotic novel - clitoridectomy proposed as the only cure for this acute mental illness. Jack Hett (illustrator).
