First Edition Thus. Scarce early edition of "Margaret Catchpole", undated but from the title page (Ward, Lock & Tyler) and advertising material I would date it to 1876-1878. Patterned red cloth elaborately lettered and decorated in gilt, black and orange, all edges gilt, numerous unattributed plates. 380pp + 32pp undated catalogue at rear.
Minor discoloration to cloth on rear cover and a few sections slightly sprung, but a good, sound copy.
