Les Victimes d'Amour [Les Amants]
Hector Malot Michel Levy, Paris · 1859
First Edition. Very nice copy of this rare book - Hector Malot's first novel in first edition. Dated 1859 on title page and with printed dedication to the author's mother dated December 4th 1858. 417pp text.
Contemporary half-cloth binding with gilt spine lettering and decoration, silk marker, all edges marbled. Slight wear at head and tail of spine but very clean inside and out. Malot's most celebrated work, 'Sans famille' was first published nearly 20 years later in 1878.
This novel by an unknown author was certainly issued in a very small edition, perhaps as few as 1,000 copies. No other copies (in any edition) available online at time of listing. [Edition originale du premier roman de Malot. Tres bon etat en reliure demi-toile d'epoque.
Rarissime!].
Written by Dr Jeremy Parrott, who has the book in his hands. Nothing here is generated from a catalogue record.
