Idegen Emberek
Marai Sandor
Pantheon, Budapest · 1930
First Edition. A very early novel by Marai, two volumes bound as one (as issued) in the publisher's stylish bright blue cloth with lettering and geometric designs in gilt. Inner hinges neatly strengthened, else good, clean and sound.
Marai's stock has recently risen enormously on both the domestic and the international markets, due to the reissue here in Hungary of works unavailable for 50 years or more and to the publication of his novel 'Embers' in English (which became a surprise best-seller) followed by several others. These phenomena have contributed to pressure on the very limited supply of first issues coming on to the market and there can be little doubt that Marai prices will continue to rise for the foreseeable future.
Written by Dr Jeremy Parrott, who has the book in his hands. Nothing here is generated from a catalogue record.
