Gaspar the Gaucho
Captain Mayne Reid
Routledge, London · 1880
First Edition. First edition of late title by Mayne Reid, not issued in US until 1883. In elaborately decorated publisher's cloth (gilt and black on dark green) and with numerous tipped in plates.
The book was staple-bound rather than conventionally sewn and very few copies have survived. This copy is in great shape though. Minimal wear and loss at head of spine almost invisibly repaired using matching cloth.
Otherwise sharp and clean throughout. Formerly in the library of Joseph Sadony, philosopher, educationalist and inventor, with his embossed stamp to title page. Scarce in any condition, rare in such nice shape.
Riou (illustrator).
Written by Dr Jeremy Parrott, who has the book in his hands. Nothing here is generated from a catalogue record.
