First Edition. True first edition of Traven's most celebrated novel, brilliantly filmed by John Huston in 1948, starring Humphey Bogart and Walter Huston. The mysterious and elusive author sent his agent Hal Croves to assist with the filming.
Subsequently it turned out that Croves was Traven himself. Offered here is a copy of the First Edition, First Issue (with Besonderes on p.18 as per Treverton's bibliography). Original ochre linen lettered and decorated in red and green, top edges stained green, grey-blue end-papers.
Trivial shelf wear and neat previous ownership inscription but a VG clean copy of a scarce and important book. [EA. W-G 6. OLn, sehr gut erhalten].
