First Edition. Scarce Smilles first edition in original publisher's cloth. Plum cloth spine lettered in gilt and elaborately blind-stamped to front and rear covers; coated black endpapers; top edge uncut.
Spine sunned; slight water spotting and patchy loss of sizing to cloth; rear endpaper renewed. A good, sounds and internally very clean copy. For some reason this book is particularly scarce in the original cloth, though why anyone would have felt the need to have it rebound I can't imagine.
