First Edition Thus. First one-volume edition of Braddon's 8th novel, published one year after the three-decker. Copy identical to theose described by both Sadleir and Wolff in their collections.
Dot and line blue cloth lettered in gilt, top edges uncut, yellow endpapers, extra title page with two facing illustrations. Minor edge rubbing and almost imperceptible, neat repairs using matching cloth to small losses at head and tail of spine. A perfectly sound, internally clean copy of a scarce, early title.
