First Edition. First edition of Braddon's only juvenile work, a Christmas story. In publisher's original two-tone cloth - blue morocco-cloth spine lettered in gilt with cream covers lettered and illustrated in red.
Printed on heavy, art paper and illustrated throughout by Townsend. Minor grubbiness to sensitive cloth and surface rubbing to extremities. 262pp text followed by 8pp integral ads, the last leaf of which is torn without loss and taped. Front free endpaper removed and loss to corner of rear endpaper.
Despite these small flaws a perfectly sound and internally clean copy an uncommon book. F.H. Townsend (illustrator).
