First Edition. Very scarce first edition of this juvenile novel by Adams [CBEL4 1734]. Publisher's terracotta cloth with illustrations and lettering in blck and gilt to front cover and spine; bevelled edges; pale yellow end-papers.
Preface by the author dated Sept. 1873 and ownership inscriptionfrom Xmas 1873 [i.e. issued for the Christmas market]. Dated 1874 on title page. 6 unattributed illustrations. Minor rubbing to extremities but a clean, bright and perfectly sound copy.
Rare in such condition.
