Veterinary Notes for Horse Owners
Captain M.Horace Hayes
Thacker, London · 1897
First Edition Thus. Fifth and best edition of this massive work, much revised and expanded. The first edition came out as a fairly modest work in 1877.
This, the final edition, runs to 733pp and is roughly a third longer than the 4th ed. of 1889, incorporating the author's other work, 'Age and Soundness of Horse', much new material and nearly 100 additional illustrations, both in-text and as plates. Publisher's black buckram lettered in gilt, black endpapers, 24pp publisher's catalogue at rear dated 1898. Very neat internal repairs to splits around spine edges using period matching cloth and now a near VG attractive copy.
Capped withers? Poll evil? Or perhaps your horse has just been struck by lightning. If you've ever been tempted to look a gift horse in the mouth, but didn't know what you might find there, then this is the book for you, with numerous diagrams of equine dentition, good and bad. Rare book, with no other copies of this edition available online worldwide at time of listing.
Written by Dr Jeremy Parrott, who has the book in his hands. Nothing here is generated from a catalogue record.
