The Story of My Village
H. De Vere Stacpoole
Hutchinson, London
First Edition. Scarce UK first edition of this very late Stacpoole novel, undated but published in 1947. First, indeed sole edition.
Original blue-green cloth with lettering in black. Full colour dw is chipped at head and tailed of spine, and price-clipped butlargely intact and in protective acetate wrapper. One of Stacpoole's very few novels to be classified as fantasy or sci-fi, it is largely a realistic portrayal of English village life in the 1940s but ends with a mysterious plague of blindness that saves humanity from the consequences of its own folly.
Written by Dr Jeremy Parrott, who has the book in his hands. Nothing here is generated from a catalogue record.
