The Red Badge of Courage
Stephen Crane
Heinemann, London · 1896
First Edition Thus. Second Edition (so stated on title page) of the British publication; first was in the same year and in the same format. Issued in Heinemann's Pioneer Series, a cheap set of new books which appeared simultaneously in hard covers and wraps.
This copy is the hard cover issue, slightly more sturdy but very few copies have survived in any kind of decent shape. Green cloth stamped in white, three-colour series title page preceding 2pp of early press notices for this volume, 8pp ads for the earlier volumes in the series at rear. Scuffing to rear cover and spine lettering and slight rubbing to head and tail of spine.
Perfectly sound however and a clean copy internally.
Written by Dr Jeremy Parrott, who has the book in his hands. Nothing here is generated from a catalogue record.
