First Edition. Very uncommon first edition of this early spy novel, appearing just one year after Conrad's 'Secret Agent'. Smooth blue cloth lettered in black and red and with blood-spattered German eagle to front cover, gilt lettering to spine.
Faint trace of number (possibly the publisher's file copy) at foot of spine and light page-edge foxing. No previous ownership inscriptions or other marks. A lovely, bright copy of a rare book - but at least this one is obtainable, unlike any of the author's other books, of which there were at least 3.
