Jeremy Parrott
Kakapo Press, Szeged · 2020
Soft cover. Condition: New. 1st Edition. Brand new bibliography of the collected editions of Dickens's works published in Britain during the author's lifetime.
These comprise the following 5 editions: Cheap (1847-68); Library (1858-59); Illustrated Library (1861-74); People's (1865-67) and Charles Dickens (1867-1875), a total of 116 volumes, all described in detail. The bibliographer has based this comprehensive study on his own substantial collection, supplemented by examination of copies in all the U.K. copyright libraries and the London Dickens Museum. For the first time scholars, librarians, antiquarian booksellers and collectors will have access to accurate information about these important editions, with notes on variants, illustrations, print runs and sales figures as well as a wealth of new information about Dickens's finances and dealing with his publishers.
The book is a large format quality softback with French flaps. 296pp text plus 16pp of colour illustrations. Published in a limited edition of 500 numbered copies and only available direct from the author and publisher.
Written by Dr Jeremy Parrott, who has the book in his hands. Nothing here is generated from a catalogue record.
