First Edition. Very scarce first edition of this important 1920s novel, one of the first to capture the spirit of the decade. Published in USA under the title Almost Pagan.

In publisher's dark blue cloth lettered and ruled in salmon pink. Light page edge foxing else clean and bright. In superb pictorial dw by C.

Morse, depicting a pipe-smoking man holding a baby whilst a bob-haired cigarette-smoking flapper looks on. Sizeable wedge-shaped piece missing from bottom of lower panel, but not affecting illustration. It bears the price of 3/6d, making it a 2nd issue.

Dw now mylar protected. A rare first edition, particularly so in a wrapper. C.
