First Edition. Almost certainly the most important novel by a female writer in Hungarian. Kaffka Margit was the only member of the Nyugat school and published several verse collections, short stories and novellas in addition to this major novel.
This copy is in the publisher's original cloth binding,plum-coloured with elaborate and beautiful decoration in gold and white, all edges lightly speckled, floral endpapers. Wear to extremities with very neat repairs; a clean and sound copy of an extremely scarce and important literary work, recently translated for the first time into English and now, rather belatedly, attaining some richly deserved international recognition.
