Pauperism - a Picture and Endowment of Old Age
Charles Booth
Macmillan, London · 1892
First Edition. Rare first edition of this argument in favour of old age pensions. Illustration on title page and numerous tables.
The majority of copies of this book appear to have bound up at regular 8vo or 12mo with c. 350 pages. This copy, dated 1892 on title page and clearly in a publisher'sbinding is, however, 188pp and printed in double columns, other than the tables, which occupy full pages. Original green stippled cloth with gilt spine lettering, blind-stamped rules to covers, edges speckled pink.
Trivial shelf wear but a VG clean copy of a most uncommon variant.
Written by Dr Jeremy Parrott, who has the book in his hands. Nothing here is generated from a catalogue record.
