First Edition. First edition of this extremely scarce work, the last of Henty's adult novels: Newbolt #79.1. Originally conceived for the 3-decker format, this long novel appeared in one volume, as the 3-volume novel finally died in 1897.
Newbolt records that 2,024 copies were printed andthat the book was published on March 10th 1898. This copy has a catalogue at rear for March 1898. Original salmon-pink cloth with lettering in gilt and floral decoration in black Floral endpapers, top edges gilt, others uncut Minor sun-fading to spine and minimal wear at head of spine Perfectly clean and sound throughout with no previous ownership inscriptions.
A rare book, particularly so in such nice condition.
