Aeropolis, Roman Comique De La Vie Aerienne

Henry Kistemaeckers
Charpentier et Fasquelle, Paris · 1909

First Edition Thus. Very early edition of this rare and fascinating book, 'troisieme mille' (third thousand) stated on title page. It is a comic fantasy built around the innovations that were being made at the turn of the century, principally looking at bizarre applications of flying.

Glorious, silly illustrations of double-decker heli-powered trams etc. Originally issued in paper covers, these are now lost but the book has been recently bound in stiff card with a facsimile cover page and plain cloth spine. Title page is grubby but the rest of the book is virtually spotless and perfectly useable.

Rene Vincent (illustrator).

Written by Dr Jeremy Parrott, who has the book in his hands. Nothing here is generated from a catalogue record.
