A Manderley-Haz Asszonya [Rebecca]
Daphne Du Maurier
Budapest: Singer Es Wolfner, Budapest
First Edition. Very Good Indeed/Good Plus. Very scarce Hungarian first edition of Rebecca in excellent condition.
Rebecca appeared in Hungarian in 1939 in a first edition of 4000 copies. It was an immediate success and went through many reprints. Translation is by Ruziska Maria.
Bright orange cloth lettered and illustrated in black. This is a clean, bright copy - quite possibly unread - in an edge worn and minimally chipped dw featuring an illustration by the artist Fenyves. In 10 years of looking this is the first copy of the Hungarian first that I have found, and the only early copy I have come across in a wrapper.
All other early copies I have inspected have been read to death. In other words, this is a very rare book.
Written by Dr Jeremy Parrott, who has the book in his hands. Nothing here is generated from a catalogue record.
