A Francia Uj Regeny [Le Nouveau Roman, The New Novel]
Beckett, Samuel, Michel Butor, Claude Simon, Alain Robbe-Grillet, Nathalie Sarraute
Europa, Budapest · 1967
First Edition. First edition in Hungarian. Numbers 121/122 in the enormously important Modern Konyvtar series which introduced Hungarians to the best of post-war literature from beyond their own borders.
Translations by various hands. A 2-volume anthology from the best of the French 'nouveaux romanciers'. Includes first printings in Hungarian of several works by these authors including Beckett's L'Expulse [The Expelled] and an extract from L'Innommable [The Unnamable].
Colourful card covers with French-style flaps as issued. Very slight shelf wear but very good or better, particularly considering the poor production quality. Scarce, even in Hungary.
Written by Dr Jeremy Parrott, who has the book in his hands. Nothing here is generated from a catalogue record.
